About

Welcome to the Journeys of Jennifer Janet. I am Jennifer Janet, a full-time broker owner of a real estate company in Perryville, MO. Being a REALTOR, sometimes consumes my life, just ask my ever so patient husband! My career certainly takes an enormous amount of dedication, time, energy, and knowledge. Some days it doesn’t feel like much is left over! Don’t misread my candidness as regret or complaining. I LOVE my career and honestly, wouldn’t change much about it. Weeell, I might tweak a thing or two such as my obsessive nature and sheer disregard of the time (unless of course you are a client and then I’d never forget you!). I do have a tendency to get wrapped up in my work and lose track of time which takes a toll on my loved ones. This, I want to improve upon in the near future!

I was born, the oldest child on a small 60 acre farm in the northeastern part of the county, spending quite a bit of time with my father, Guy, when I was younger. I was his helper at the barn where we mostly took care of pigs and a few cows. Of course, the way I remember things is strangely different from how they probably actually went. Many of my jobs included cleaning the pens (yes, of poo), sorting the pigs, feeding, and lots of just following dad around. Believe you me–anything he did, I would try! When dad would go out-of-town, I would show mom how to do it (probably not really, but I sure tried). I have two sisters, Cora & Brittany. You couldn’t get Cora to join us in the barn. She preferred to spend her time inside with my mother, Debra. She was definitely the dress up queen. While you couldn’t get me out of sweatpants (seriously, until 8th grade), Cora always had her hair done, dress on and pretty shoes. Even though we were complete opposites of the spectrum, we were and still are close. Brittany is six years younger than me and lucky her, has many of my mannerisms and is hands down more like me than I’d care to admit! She was no stranger to the barn either! In fact, she took a “dip” in the pit–just a tad more dedicated to it than I was. The baby of the family she is and make no qualms about it–she ain’t afraid to tell you like it is. I must note, I did give up this characteristic years ago for those of you who were wondering if I still had that “fire” about me. Ha! Ha! Right now, I am extremely lucky because my mom works with me every day. Not many daughters can say this, nor would many mothers work for their daughters and put up with the workload! We are a very, very close family and I love them more than you could even imagine!

Now, I am an old married woman to The Hubby, Nic, for nearly three years. Whew–marriage! Not always the easiest thing in the world, that’s for sure, however, I wouldn’t do it any different if I were standing there again on September 14, 2007 in Gatlinburg, TN! YES would still be my answer when he popped the question. We have a spoiled Yorkie, Koko whom I am certain believes she is in fact a human being. Yes, you heard me right, she thinks she is one of us and I’m not sure who taught her that–okay, okay, it was me! Our dream is to have a farm near my homestead and raise our family. We are praying that God will soon bless us with children. That’s pretty exciting for us right now!!!

I am closer to the age of 31 now as the year progresses and I wonder where on earth did the time go?!? I enjoy being outside and working in my flower beds and boating when it is warmer outside. I love to read and find the smell of books refreshing and fun. When time permits, I love to cook and especially make dishes from scratch. Recently, I have added photography to my list of hobbies after purchasing my first SLR camera last Christmas. To say I am passionate about it is an understatement. I have taken photography and Photoshop classes to learn everything I can about it. Yes, I am one of those who loves to learn! I could be a student forever!! Over the last few years, I have undoubtedly grown in my Christian faith. I am a Lutheran and I really enjoy the bible study I am involved in as well as reading the Bible and other Christian living books.

These are words that I feel describe me……passionate, peculiar, analytical, loyal, thorough, head strong, organized, crazy, safe, loner, observer, controlling, definitely capable, traditional, sentimental, independent, odd, in charge, all or nothing, obsessive, a thinker. Okay, maybe you get the picture and I should save a few for some surprises!! A friend once related me to a tornado. I’m not sure if it is because a times, I am a whirlwind or that I am out of control with my thinking. Perhaps I’ll never know and that’s completely okay with me. Somethings are best a mystery.

I look forward to sharing with you my daily journeys as a wife, sister, daughter, friend, Christian, neighbor, co-worker, and leader. Being a REALTOR and business owner, I am in the local newspaper ALOT! For the most part, I don’t mind, but you’d be surprised how much a person, especially someone who owns a business, is scrutinized, judged, and sometimes has a lack of privacy. It seems as though someone is always looking. Looking specifically for you to mess up so they can point it out and tell everyone else. As a result, this creates a lot of pressure–emotionally. This is one reason why I have had reservations about a blog, however, I’d like for others to know about my life–it is more than real estate, more than what meets the eye. Trust me, there are times when you’ll never guess what I’m thinking or why for that matter!

So bare with me as we take this new journey together where we will hopefully laugh and cry together!

God’s Blessings to You!
JJ
