Day 5

Today brings a day of thankfulness for family heritage and tradition. Our family spent the day at Iowa State University watching a football game. Previous players were honored and of course Dad was one of them!! How fascinating it was to tailgate and take in the whole game experience. More importantly it was sentimental to watch Dad and learn about his college days and the early years of his and mom’s marriage. Life takes a stall when we head back down memory lane and reminisce of the good ole days. Hopefully this will be the first of many years bringing generations back to soak it all in. I look forward to events and moments like this with my children some day. After all, isn’t this what we dream of and yearn for most of our life? Our Heavenly Father, may you continue to bless us with the heritage that families are built on.

Day 4

On this fourth day of thankfulness, I am grateful for my wonderful husband. Today I got to see Nic for the first time in two and a half weeks. That really makes you appreciate them so much more. He has been working about 14 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide a better lifestyle for our family. Samuel sent him videos and pictures everyday so that Daddy could see him and feel closer to us. It was definitely a HUGE sacrifice! My praises to the Lord for Nic and all he does.

Day 3

On the third day of thankfulness, I am thankful for our home and that we can afford heat to stay warm. There is nothing like being able to snuggle up on a cold, rainy day with the furnace cranked up, keeping it nice and toasty. I can’t imagine having to worry about how to keep our family warm or to live without heat like many do. The Lord has certainly blessed us by giving us this luxury.

Day 2

Today I am most thankful for my health. I woke up feeling fantastic (with Day 1 of thankfulness in my arms). Although there are days of sluggish energy or tiredness, I am not battling a major illness or disease. I thank and praise the Lord for this blessing he has given me. It certainly makes me want to be more health conscience and exercise to show Him my appreciation!
